Red berries, also known as wild fruits, are small fruits that bear black or red color and are usually presented in form of berries. Some examples of these fruits are the blackcurrant, Blackberry, Blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, cherry or cranberry.
The reasons why you should put these foods in your diet whenever possible is the fact that they are full of antioxidants, vitamin C, beta carotene, cyanidin (present red coloring pigment in the skin of these fruits) and many other vitamins and minerals to prevent the development of diseases. Although they are often unavailable most of the year in supermarkets, red berries can be easily found frozen in many commercial areas. It can be eaten under the most varied forms such as juices, salads, cold meals, shakes, or desserts.
Blueberries, for example, are rich in nutrients that combat memory loss, help fight depression and aging effects, being one of the most powerful anti-aging food.
The antioxidants present in red berries neutralize the action of free radicals, improve blood circulation, transport of nutrients by the body and also protect against the harmful effects of the sun.
These fruits also decrease the risk of cancer since they have properties which can prevent its occurrence. Some scientific studies show that strawberries and raspberries are effective in preventing the development of different types of cancer.
Also rich in folic acid and vitamin C, red berries increase the effectiveness of our immune system, protecting us from infection and also helping the adrenals, minimizing the effects of anxiety.
In addition to all these benefits, red berries are good to reduce hunger due to its fructose, by presenting a low glycemic index, it increases the feeling of satiety.
