Muscles also have memory
If you had a habit of training and stop to do for some time, you do not need to go back to square one when you get back to the gym, your muscles have memory.
Many are unaware of the fact that our muscles store information in their cells, they do not forget the efforts done in past resistance trainings. Even if you stop training, the structure of muscles that you acquired during this training is not lost.
It is a reality that you shape changes and the muscles get a less prominent aspect, but the seed has already been launched and when you stimulate it, you will retrieve your shape faster than you can imagine. Muscles have a memory that can last for years without losing any information.
It is true that just 15 days away from training and we lose about 12% of muscle mass, according to an article published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, which leads many to believe that as soon as they stop to train, all the work done have been in vain, but the information stored in the core of your muscles keeps a good surprise.
The first thing that happens when you start to train is not muscle growth, but the creation of more core, these cores that will facilitate the development of more tissue and muscles. Due to its size, our muscles are made up of cells containing more than one core, as is the case with virtually all other cells of our body. Because they are multiple cores, they can’t synthesize a large amount of proteins, which otherwise would not be possible. The cell cores that make our muscles control the synthesis of proteins, that join each other to form more muscle tissue. These cores remain within the cells even during extended periods of inactivity.
Strength training appears to alter the structure of your muscles permanently and when training is resumed, the construction of the core is not necessary. The cores are only sleeping and when you return to train, they wake up. So, muscle growth is much faster for those who already had done strength training than for those who never did. The latter still have to create more cores before they begin to “grow up” to see results.
So you know, the work you do in the gym is never in vain. It allows you to come back more easily and provides faster results when you decide to return.
